Thanksgiving Favorites

Instead of the usual “What’s for Dinner?” I decided to change it up a bit and to take a look at holiday favorites and show you what you can save by using coupons.

Today we will take a look at Greenbean Casserole. In my big ol’ family, this is a favorite! I often double the recipe and there is never many leftovers.

The recipe can be found here.

The main ingredients needed are 2 cans of Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup, 4 cans green beans, and French’s French Fried onions.

Right now, ShopRite has the cream of mushroom soup on sale for $0.74 (usually $1.09).  On the Campbell’s website, there is a $1/4 Campbell’s soup coupon. (This flavor soup is considered a “great for cooking” soup).  Total cost for 4 cans is $1.96. Cost for recipe = $0.98 with coupons, $1.48 without.

Del Monte green beans are $1.29/can. There is a $1/4 coupon on the Del Monte website. Total cost for 4 cans = $5.16 without coupon, $4.16 with coupon. (There isn’t currently a sale on these green beans but I chose to use them just to illustrate the difference coupons can make. Personally, I would go for the $0.75 ShopRite greenbeans.)

French’s French Fried Onions are $2.99 for the larger container. There is a $0.50 coupon on the Campbell’s website that will double at ShopRite to $1 off. Total price with coupons = $1.99, without coupon = $2.99.

Total cost of main ingredients without coupons = $9.63

Total cost of main ingredients with coupons = $7.13

There is a savings of $2.50 (which is about the cost of a pumpkin pie!) When cooking for many people, the savings double as you double recipes! You would be surprised at how quick the savings can add up for just one meal!
