Over the weekend, I hosted a House Party sponsored by Kmart. It was called Kmart’s Larger Than Life Halloween House Party.
For those of you who may not be familiar with House Party and what it may be, here is a little background. They are a company that helps promote other companies products. How it works is, a big brand name company contacts House Party and works out a deal to sponsor an event, which is a house party. Then, House Party announces it on it’s website and people apply to host. Positions are limited to a certain amount of people and applicants must agree to follow House Party rules. After a few week open application period, the hosts are picked and notified by email. Hosts must then invite a certain amount of people to their party to comply with the rules. All hosts are sent a Party Pack for their party. Inside the party pack is the product you will be promoting and the theme of your party. There is no purchase necessary and there is nothing for your guests to purchase. The sole reason for the house party is to spread the word about the sponsors products and to let consumers test/check them out. For more information on House Party, feel free to check out their website here.
Inside my party pack was a $25 gift card for Kmart, 2 different sets of coupons for my guests for Kmart Halloween decor and costumes, a Sandra Lee booklet with decor and recipe ideas, a party tips page, and a special 25% off coupon for me.
All I had to do was throw a Halloween themed party and use Kmart to shop for supplies. 🙂
Here is what I picked up from Kmart using my gift card, as well as coupons and ShopYourWay Rewards. Kmart was a little limited in what they offered, but I made the best of it.
In addition, I also crafted a bunch of stuff to decorate. Most supplies I had hanging around the house, or I bought from the dollar store.
The end result was a ton of fun and all of my guests left happy!
